What is Stick Welder and its Applications

Different types of welding are used, such as MIG welding, TIG welding and stick welder. Depending on your needs, the workers can choose among these three types of welding. Today we will explain what a stick welder is and mention its application.

What is a stick welder?

A Stick welder is a type of hand-driven arc welding used on a wide range of metals. It is a metal-bonding process, where a flux-covered electrode is bonded with two metal surfaces.

This is the only process where AC and DC form between electrodes and the nearby metal surface.

Once the arc has been struck, the electrode’s flux services it as a shielding gas, and it starts to burn. This, in time, creates a protective atmosphere that restricts the flow of oxygen, water vapour or other debris to contaminate the weld.

Stick welders are used because there is no need to use a separate shielding gas, and the work can be accomplished using the basic equipment. The workers can choose among a wide range of electrodes of all sizes and types.

They can be used indoors and in outdoor settings, and the workers can easily learn how to deal with them.

Applications of stick welder

Since it is used in a lot of commonplaces, you can spot stick welder in the following work areas: -

1.They are used in construction sites

2.They are hugely used in manufacturing and structural welding places

3.They are also profoundly used in shipbuilding, aerospace, petroleum, mining and nuclear industries.
